Instead of copper water pipes, most mobile homes are built with plastic pipes. Often plastic pipes that were never approved for use in site-built homes were approved for mobile homes. Unfortunately, some of those pipes were prone to get a lot of leaks over time.
Connect 3/8" tubing into a 1/2" female fitting with the three eighths by half male adapter. Many tiny houses and mobile homes have toilets, showers, and water heaters, but the fixtures are usually much smaller. What is the difference between mobile home plumbing and plumbing in a site-built home? There are some significant differences in the plumbing system of a mobile home that are a result of the method of manufacture. Mobile homes are not built to the same standards as site-built homes since they fall under different regulations. This accounts for some of the differences in the plumbing systems.

With new flex line water-supply tubes and push-on valves, you can change the water-supply lines to a toilet or faucet in minutes. Simply shut off water to the house, remove the old flex line from the fixture, cut back the PB pipe, push on a new shut-off valve, and connect a new flex line. Don’t forget to check for leaks several times after turning the water back on. There are a couple of options when selecting what type of fitting to use for the transition from polybutylene. The outside diameter of PB tubing is the same as for PEX, CPVC, and copper pipe so using push-fit fittings is one option you can use. The other is to use a specific transition fitting designed for transitioning between two different materials.
Frozen pipes are also more susceptible to leaks, which will waste even more water. Plastic piping is used in mobile home plumbing because it is much easier to work with and less costly. Compared to traditional plumbing, mobile home plumbing has the following differences.

Once only available in clear or white, pex can now be found in a variety of colors including red, blue, white and clear. Because so many manufactured homes still contain the gray polybutylene, repairs are still necessary. Since parts for polybutylene systems are no longer available, repairs have to be made using pex.
If the drain is on an outside wall, you can drill a hole through the exterior of your mobile home, then run the snake through it from the outside. However, if the drain is inside a cabinet or wall, you’ll need to remove the cabinet or wall covering and snake from inside your mobile home. Detergents, grease, or another buildup can clog your drain lines or drains in your home, leading to slow drainage caused by pockets of standing water. One way to avoid this issue is to avoid using your garbage disposal.
If you have a power drill, attach it to the other end and use that to force it through. • Remove any covering over the drain so you can snake it from inside your mobile home. You can just remove the cabinet and snake it from underneath, or you might have to cut a hole in the wall.
Then cut the pipe to length, using a fine-toothed hacksaw and a miter box. Rigid pipe is joined with plastic couplings and solvent-based cement. These, as well as cleaner-primer fluid necessary for preparing pipe for joining, are available at hardware stores. Be sure to obtain cement specifically designed for the type of pipe you are using. Where codes allow plastic plumbing for supplying potable water, the two types specified are chlorinated polyvinyl chloride and polybutylene .
Also bevel the thickness of the pipe walls slightly, both inside and out. Beveling on the outside improves the fit of the pipe in the coupling, enhancing the glue joint. To assemble a run of rigid pipe or to replace a length of existing pipe, first calculate the amount of pipe you will need. To do this, measure the distance between couplings or other fittings and add the distance that the ends of the pipe project into the fittings.
But even where restrictions apply, plastic pipe can often be used in the drain-waste-vent portions of plumbing systems because these carry neither potable nor hot water. Nor do they carry water under pressure greater than that caused by gravity. If you have a polybutylene piping system, it’s probably only a matter of time before the pipes give out.
Some mobile homes are equipped with copper piping instead of plastic piping because it is more durable in certain conditions. However, there are still many mobile homes that are equipped with PVC piping. Additionally, you may have to use straight stop valves instead of angle stop valves when connecting your water lines, in order to maximize space.
In many cases, water lines or drain lines can be upgraded if they are of lower quality. Working on mobile home plumbing can often be less expensive than working on site-built homes. Few things are more frustrating than discovering it is time to replace your mobile home hot water heater or other plumbing fixtures.
